About Us
ETCO is currently in the process of merging with the European Donation Committee (EDC) of the European Society of Transplantation (ESOT) and will form a new section of ESOT initially called ETCO-EDC, as proclaimed at the General Assembly in Glasgow. The ETCO foundation will be dissolved and ETCO members will become ESOT members, with full rights and obligations, and can choose to be members of the ETCO-EDC section with no extra cost.
There is a Transition Board over the next year made up of 3 members from the former ETCO board and 3 members from the EDC. and then the election procedure will be reinstated in 2012. Elections will be held to renew half the board, Beatriz Dominguez-Gil will be the Chair of the section until 2013.
The board is the governing council of the ETCO-EDC section, currently made up of Chair, Vice-chair, and four councillors. The board will be democratically elected from members of the section. All members have the right to run for office and to vote, though they must be up-to-date with their membership fees.
Bylaws on the internal running of the section are being drafted and will be posted on the website. A letter from the then president of ETCO, Rui Maio and the then president of ESOT, Rutger Ploeg, communicating the merge is on the Notice Board of the home page and was sent to all ETCO and ESOT members.
